Neighborhood: Design District

One of the most recent neighborhoods that has risen up out of refurbished mid-century modern furniture warehouses, home-decor showrooms, contemporary art galleries and photo studios is Dallas’s Design District.

Don’t let the bougie title fool you though, the Design District hails some laid-back brew joints, taco stops, BBQ joints and southern diners that’ll never get displaced, a dive-y bowling alley alongside the art galleries, model agencies and photo studios.

The Design District is an 8 minute drive from the Westin.

Places of interest: Meddlesome Moth, BowlLounge, Mama’s Daughter’s Diner, Lula B’s, Ascension Coffee, Conduit Gallery, Community Beer Company, Pie Tap Pizza and the Dallas Contemporary.

D Magazine has put together a great site detailing the neighborhoods in Dallas. From local insights, new developments and best-of highlights, they’ve put together a rich resource for visitors and locals to explore the city. Their neighborhood guide to Design District restaurants, attractions, shopping, bars and clubs is here:
